Picosecond cyclization reaction dynamics of furan-based photochromic diarylethenes with thiosemicarbazone side-chains studied by femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy was by two main stages: 1) first one proceeds during the first 1.6 ps and is associated mainly with redistribution of ?-? molecular orbitals of openring molecules and is leading to the formation of excited closed-ring molecules; 2) a long-term relaxation via vibrational cooling of closed-ring form during the next 300 ps with the relaxation dynamics curve fitted by an exponential decay function with 68 ps time constant.
