M.I.Sitenko popup.description2 The object of investigation - structural-functional peculiarities of the joints of lower extremities in the conditions of formed extra-joint deformities of femur or tibia. The goal of investigation - to study mechanisms of the development of pathological changes in the lower extremities joints in the conditions of formed extra-joints deformities of femur or tibia in adults. The methods of investigation - clinical, roentgenological, biomechanical (mathematical modeling, final-element method, statopodography), ultrasound investigation, experimental modeling, histological, polarization-optical, statistical. Final-element models of the deformity on the level of middle 1/3 of femur or tibia was worked out; changes in stress-strain state of medial aspect of knee joint, lateral aspect of ankle and patellar-femoral joints in these conditions were proven. The model of posstraumatic femur deformity in rats was worked out. Morphological study revealed some degenerative changes, that developed under these circumstances and grew worse as time went on, in joint cartilage of knee and ankle joint both on injured and contralateral extremities. Characteristic structural-functional failures in muscles and joints and some abnormalities in support ability of injured extremity were diagnosed using instrumental methods of investigation in patients with posttraumatic deformities. Proposed complex of diagnostic measures, directed on the identification of secondary changes in tissues of injured extremities in the conditions of formed extra-joint posttraumatic deformities, consists of the following methods of investigation: assesment of the general status of patient and injured extremity (measuring of extremity/segment length and range of motion in adjacent joints), roengonological investigation, ultrasound investigation of joint soft tissues and injured segments muscles, biomechanical investigations (statographic).
