As a result of this research we identified the priority areas of socio-demographic policy in relation to parenting and childhood in Ukraine, formed the theoretical and methodological foundations of study and provided new definition of parenthood, carried out complete analysis of the modern state of parenthood in Ukraine, including analysis of fertility level and structure, contemporary features of its dynamics, the specifics of the parenting in families of different types, analysis of the social and economic environment of parenthood, in particularly, the state of the infrastructure, focused on parents and children, employment conditions in terms of its comfort for parenting. It was proposed the regional maternity index to assess the conditions of parenting in different regions. According to the analysis of regional maternity indexes we identified typological groups of regions in Ukraine in terms of motherhood conditions. The principles and priorities of parenthood support policy in Ukraine were defined on the basis of analysis of national social policies and the experience of developed European countries. It was proposed concept of support of responsible parenthood in Ukraine, the recommendations for the prevention of poverty among families with children and forming the social and labor environment friendly to employees with children, the recommendations for development the appropriate infrastructure and the promotion of the ideology of "responsible parenthood."
