The presence of functional groups, organic bridges, polysiloxane bonds, residual silanol groups, and ethoxysilyl groups in the synthesized bridged polysilsesquioxane xerogels was confirmed using infrared spectroscopy and solid-state 1H NMR spectroscopy. AFM data indicate that the structure of such xerogels is similar to other materials of this type (they feature conglomerates of aggregates 35-40 nm in size), but all the samples are virtually non-porous.
