The subject of the study is methodological approaches to forecasting the demand and supply of labor. The purpose of the study is to develop methodological approaches for forecasting by the State Employment Service for demand and supply of labor for the short-term period. Research methods. The general theoretical and methodological basis of the study were foreign experience, scientific achievements of domestic and foreign scientists in the field of forecasting demand and supply of labor, analysis and synthesis of their results, methods of statistical analysis, in particular the method of sample observations (random non-repeatable sampling), grouping according to the fields of professional activity , searches by verbal classification, construction of time linear trends. The information base of the research is the normative legal acts of Ukraine, statistical and analytical materials of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, scientific publications. The results of scientific research and the novelty of the work are as follows: - Improved: the algorithm for searching the Internet sites and the processing of information on the number of vacancies and the number of resumes from job seekers (with the elimination of the influence of seasonality, the identification of the dominant trend and the calculation of the load factors of job seekers for vacancies (positions)), for implementation by the State Employment Service of forecasting of demand and supply of labor; methodical approaches to forecasting by the State Employment Service of demand and labor supply for the short-term period, testing of which proves expediency of their use in the activities of the State Employment Service to develop forecasts of labor demand and its proposals; - got further development: systematization of foreign experience on demand forecasting and supply of labor for further improvement of the activities of the State Employment Service in terms of implementation of plans for the implementation of EU acts; estimating the demand and supply of labor on the basis of open source information with the formation of a database on professional activities, which will provide an opportunity to ensure timeliness and more appropriate orientation for the provision of services such as vocational training, retraining, refresher training, internships and promotion of their employment. . Field of application. The results of the scientific research are intended for use by the State Employment Service in the work on forecasting labor demand and its proposals for the short-term perspective in order to implement measures of active policy of promoting employment, providing social protection for registered unemployed citizens. Economic efficiency.
