Research subject. Ecological-geographical features of the using and preservation of the natural resources and the urban environment of the Western region of Ukraine. Research purpose. Investigation of the state of the natural resources, the peculiarities of it's using and the threats of degradation and pollution, including urbanized and protected areas. Main scientific results. The distribution and the structure of individual natural resources of the Western region of Ukraine on the example of sample areas and objects are explored. Approaches to measurement (metrization) parameters of components of the landscape systems are substantiated. An analysis of environmental and economic measures in the region are conducted to assess it's impact on the natural environment. Practical value. The results of research should be taken into account in the strategic planning of the economic activity of the local authorities, the development of industrial, agrarian and communal enterprises, and in the work of the environmental structures of the Western region of Ukraine.
