The aim of the work is that, based on literature sources, patent searches, laboratory studies, proposals and measures have been developed to reduce the consumption of motor oils, wear parts of engines, the renewal of the properties of oils under operating conditions. The created requirements and developed installations for the regeneration of oils under stationary conditions and on-board facilities. The proposed combined (hybrid) power plant diesel-train with a hydro power transmission - the second source of energy is a compressed mixture (air and exhaust gases), which, apart from saving fuel, improves the ecology at stations and urban areas. The subject of the research are oil regeneration units and schemes of hybrid power plants of diesel-trains and shunting diesel locomotives with power transmissions. The scientific result of the performed research is contained in the development of methods for analyzing and synthesizing the schemes of installations for restoring the properties of motor oils, schemes of installations for updating the properties of motor oils, schemes of hybrid power plants of diesel trains with hydroprogram capacity in various operating conditions. The practical result consists in reducing the total costs for fuel, oil and repairs, increasing the reliability of work, reducing harmful emissions on the non-nominal operating modes of traction rolling stock engines of railways.
