The aim of this study is to develop recommendations for the adaptation of national standards in the field of social protection for the unemployed to international social norms that establishes the ILO Convention №168 of the Employment Promotion and Protection against Unemployment, and determining their possible implementation in the Ukrainian practice. The methodological base of the research is the situation of international instruments, including ILO Convention №168 of the Employment Promotion and Protection against Unemployment and national legislation on employment and social protection of the unemployed, as well as domestic and foreign analytical materials on the subject under study. The study used such general scientific and special methods of investigation such as: qualitative analysis and synthesis, generalization, grouping, ordering, comparative legal analysis, evaluation and other practical value.. The results of scientific research can be used in the implementation of the strategic directions of improvement of the system of social protection of the unemployed. The study revealed the readiness of Ukraine to introduce international standards in the sphere of social protection of the unemployed and to determine the prospects for ratification of the ILO Convention number 168 concerning Employment Promotion and Protection against Unemployment, which will contribute to strengthening the social protection of the unemployed, as well as the harmonization of national and international standards in the European integration conditions. Scope. The results of scientific research can be used in the implementation of the strategic directions of improvement of the system of social protection of the unemployed and study the possibility of ratifying ILO Convention number 168 on the promotion of employment and protection against unemployment, as well as in the implementation of the Action Plan to ensure compliance with the provisions of the European Social Charter (Revised), 2015 -2019 years, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from May 14, 2015 № 450-p.
