Object of study: guided technology for nanostructured multilayer coatings with a set of predicted properties based on nitrides and carbides transition metals, as well as physical and chemical processes that contribute to the formation and change of phase state, structure, substructure and functional properties of coatings. Subject of research: mechanisms and models of formation nanostructured multilayer coatings based on nitrides and carbides of transition metals with a given set of physical and mechanical properties. The purpose of the study is to develop advanced technologies for nanostructured multilayer coatings with improved tribological and physical and mechanical properties, and establishing of basic laws, the creation of models and the development of physical ideas about the processes that determine the composition, structure, functional properties of nanostructured multilayer coatings. The project objectives are to study the influence of deposition parameters, thickness and composition in bilayer to properties of coatings and technological development of recommendations for practical application of these coatings. The difficulty is to obtaining materials by vacuum arc evaporation is a multifactorial process, which should also include the impact of conditions of deposition and impurity atoms working atmosphere in the chamber to the structure, stress state, elemental and phase analysis of the growing surface. In this work the deposition of multilayer coatings MoN/CrN on steel substrate by vacuum arc evaporation deposition under different conditions was done. An initial study of the structural state and phase composition of the coating were carried out. The change in potential bias applied to the substrate from -20 to -150 V leads to various structures in the coatings from cubic (such as NaCl) to the formation of a solid solution was established.
