Aim - determination of morphological traits reducing harmfulness of major phytophage and identification of accessions with morphological markers of resistance to them. Methods - entomological (field and laboratory) methods, variance and correlation analyses. Two bread spring wheat varieties (Shortandinskaya Yubileinaya [Kazakhstan], CMSA04M01581T [Mexico] and spring barley varieties (Patrytsіi, Maliovnychyi, Hermes, Krok, Modern [Ukraine], Moskovskiy 86, Binom [RF], AC Malone [Canada] that are resistant to intrastem pests and have a set of with valuable traits were selected. Parameters of marker traits in a model of resistant variety were determined: for spring barley - resistance to intrastem pests (6 points, < 25.0% of damaged plants), plant height of 71-80 cm, a high regenerative capacity (tolerance coefficient 1.73-2.40), mechanical stem density - 0.85-1.10 N, linear stem density of 0.0251-0.0399 mg/cm; for bread spring wheat - resistance to intrastem pests (6 points, < 25.0% of damaged plants), regenerative capacity (tolerance coefficient 1.5-3.0), plant height of 95-101 cm, mechanical stem density of 0.6 -2.1 N. The collection material selected in the studies at the Plant Production Institute nd. a VYa Yuryev can be used for creation of spring wheat and barley varieties with increased resistance to intrastem pests.
