Aim of the research work was to ascertain the effect of physicochemical and structural-adsorption properties of bentonites from three Ukrainian deposits and their modified forms on some regularities of catalytic deactivation of toxic gaseous compounds mentioned above as well as to develop a series of anchored metal-complex compositions for catalytic air purification from these gaseous toxicants meant for the use in devices for personal respiratory protection (DPRPs). The promising catalyst samples for oxidation of carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide as well as for ozone decomposition composed of Pd(II) and Cu(II) complexes, halide ions, and natural or modified in different ways (thermal, hydrothermal or acid-thermal) bentonite have been obtained. The kinetics of the reactions under study over these metal-complex catalysts has been investigated. The data concerning kinetic, stoichiometric, and protective performance of the catalysts which were planned for DPRP equipping have been found. The optimal compositions of the catalysts for carbon monoxide oxidation and ozone decomposition and the methods for their preparation have been determined. The guidelines for the use of the catalyst for carbon monoxide oxidation in DPRPs under various sanitary and chemical parameters of the work area atmosphere have been elaborated.
