Objective of the study is to ensure the branch governing bodies and scientific research in oncology with timely, accurate and complete information through the use of information technology of cancer registry. The research methods are medical informatics, descriptive epidemiology, mathematical statistics, information modeling. Studies have shown significant defects in dispensary follow-up and registration of the life status of cancer patients in Ukraine. It was found that only 30% patients with malignant tumors diagnosed in 2013 have been followed-up despite the fact that they should be observed till the end of life with mandatory registration of the results in the cancer registry. The study of a 5-year survival rate of patients with cancer of stomach, colon and prostate in oblasts of Ukraine has shown that it is 1.5-3.0 times lower than in Europe countries; the lowest value of this rate in Ukraine was in patients with stomach cancer (15.3%), and the greatest one was in prostate cancer patients (51.9%); while these rates in Europe countries were 25.8% and 84.0% respectively. Analysis of the dynamics and completeness of cancer cases registration in NCR showed that during the first year (92.3-94.1) % of all cancer cases were registered, during the next year - another (4.1-6.5) %, that indicates a high level of timeliness and completeness of the information supplied to the NCR and annually published in the Bulletin of NCR and allows using it for research and planning of cancer control activity. Quality of data of NCR in is consistent with the recommendations of the International Agency for Research on Cancer, International Association of Cancer Registries and the European Network of Cancer Registries and allowed including the data into the international edition of the WHO "Cancer on 5 Continents." It was proved that software of NCR allows evaluating objectively the diagnostics of malignant tumors and observing the treatment of cancer patients, in particular, adequacy of the assigned tumor therapy courses to the stage of cancer process. A pilot study using the data of cancer registries of Vinnytska and Khersonska oblasts showed a possibility to evaluate the need for chemotherapy agents both for an oncology hospital and for the population as a whole.
