It has been established that the mean values of nanoparticle diameters are comparible in all the above - mentioned research methods. The determined particle size distribution depends on the research method and narrower distributions can be obtained from direct measurement methods.The general tendency is that there is a difference between the energy of the electromagnetic excitation wave and the resonance energy for the formed silver nanoparticles and for the decahedral form it is smaller than for the prismatic particles. The processes of photostimulated synthesis and aggregation in the silver-benzoic acid nanoparticle system are investigated. A new strategy for the synthesis of hybrid metal-semiconductor nanoparticles using a water-ethylene glycol mixture and UV light irradiation is developed. The catalytic properties of the resulting hybrids for the para-nitrophenol reduction reaction are investigated. Photostimulated synthesis can potentially become one of the main methods for the synthesis of nanoparticles of metals.
