An analytical note was prepared, in which the necessity and perspective directions of application of the scenario approach by the local authorities of cross-border areas were revealed. The main trends of social and economic development of the Carpathian region (Chernivtsi, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions) were assessed and outlined.
