CN-MDP significantly reduces the initial rate of accumulation and increases the extracellular level of L- [14C] glutamate and [3 H] GABA (?-aminobutyric acid) neurotransmitters in nerve terminals. The neurotoxic effect of the CN-MD is related exclusively to the activity of the CN, and not to the action of its inorganic component.
