Research subject - methods and instruments for the "wheel-brake-rail" system integrated management. The purpose of the study is improvement of energy and resource saving rail traction vehicle, ensuring safety and improving environmental performance through the development of basic research and the creation of a multifunctional knowledge-based methods and tools for the integrated management in the "wheel-brake-rail" system. Research methods consist of methods of system analysis. Studies of the processes were carried out by means of simulation and mathematical modeling, solution of system of differential equations using the theory of similarity and dimension, probability theory and mathematical statistics. In the development of mathematical models the methods of theoretical mechanics, mathematical modeling, theory of similarity and dimensional analysis, theory of decision-making, numerical methods of integration of differential equations with the use of electronic computers and applied programs Matlab, Mathcad, Borland C++ Builder 6.0 were used. Methods of experimental studies that were used in the work consisted of physical modeling tests with real samples, poster full-scale plants using proven methodologies, the relevant GOST and DSTU. In the research work conducted to develop fundamental research in the field of creation and operation of effective rolling stock considering energy and resource conservation, traffic safety and improve its environmental performance, the development of efficient, environmentally clean methods and devices for optimization of friction interaction of locomotive wheels with the rails during emergency braking, reducing the additional cost of power of railway transport in different modes of motion prediction based on the developed mathematical models describing the processes they study, creation of experimental equipment that implements these techniques as well as technical means and technologies for their use. Research work is dedicated to the rail transport problem, energy efficiency and traffic safety by controlling the "wheel-rail" friction transmission, friction and thermophysical processes of brakes friction elements. Developed methods and tools for the integrated management "wheel-brake rail" system can reduce the probability of skidding, increase the emergency braking reliability, ensure a stable friction coefficient of wheel with the rail, the solution of which reduces the risk of accidents leading to negative environmental consequences. Obtained scientific and practical results of the project are the basis for solving the problems of implementation of traffic safety and maximum adhesion coefficient, contribute to the development of highly efficient rail technology. The scope of received results: companies involved in the creation, refinement, and modernization of locomotives, diesel and electric trains to ensure safety and efficiency of their operation.
