The values of the simulated parameters of the EPS operational condition were used to form data samples. Test multi-component signals, frequency components of which are characteristic for the low frequency spectrum of frequencies of electromechanical oscillations in the EPS were synthesized. These signals were used to form the corresponding data samples. To identify the most suitable methods to on-line identification of the dominant modes of low-frequency oscillations (LFO), a program implementation of pre-selected methods of signals analysis was carried out and the comprehensive testing and selection of these methods were carried out with using all formed data samples. The generalization procedure of the results of the identification of LFO' dominant modes was developed. Using obtained results on the basis of the phasor measurement units "Regina-F " the means of automatic detection the danger and prevention of overloading of electrical connections of EPS caused by LFO' occurrence were developed. These means were implemented in the Southern EPS of the State Enterprise "NPC "Ukrenergo".
