The subject of the study are the challenges and threats of the present in the humanitarian sphere of Ukraine. The aim of the project is to apply the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of challenges and threats in the humanitarian sphere of Ukraine in connection with the geopolitical position of the state, the cultural and civilizational choice of the Ukrainian people, the constant changes in the information and educational area of the modern globalized world, the reconstruction of the social preconditions of the emergence of such challenges, adoption of positive world experience in solving such humanitarian problems and developing theoretical models for overcoming them. The results of performance of the second stage: The current situation of civil society in Ukraine is analyzed; several stages of its formation and development are indicated, appropriately, its interaction with bodies and institutions of state power are singled out. The traditional methods of investigating the noospheric thought through the disclosure of the interrelations between the Ukrainian and European noospheric views in ways of understanding the problems of the culture of safety and environmental challenges are supplemented, which confirms the influence of Ukrainian ideological experience on the solution of global humanitarian problems. The hypothesis is formulated that the political subjectness of Ukraine is a condition for the possibility of its inclusion in the world cultural and civilizational development as a separate and specific actor of history, but it is not sufficient to fulfill the function of a geopolitical subject. A methodology is proposed for analyzing the probability of emergence of a threat to ethnic autonomies in Ukraine's border area on the basis of a study of negative experience in the Crimea, in order to avoid similar situations in the future and to prevent the provocation of separatist sentiments and movements among ethnic minorities of Ukraine by unfriendly countries. The provisions on the Ukrainian diaspora as a potential factor of investment in Ukraine and a powerful image-maker of the country on the international arena are supplemented. A substantiation of the thesis on the expediency of using the political and economic situation of the Ukrainian diaspora for the geopolitical interests of Ukraine is proposed. Scientific novelty: The hypothesis is formulated that the political subjectness of Ukraine is a condition for the possibility of its inclusion in the world cultural and civilizational development as a separate and specific actor of history, but it is not sufficient to fulfill the function of a geopolitical subject.
