The purpose of the work is to investigate and improve the methods for identifying essential variables (indicators) that can be used for environment monitoring from space and to develop information products for assessing land degradation indicators for the territory of Ukraine. Research method - geospatial analysis, machine learning, object-oriented design, structural functional analysis, statistical methods, neural networks. In this work we investigate results of comparative analysis of global and regional indicators of land degradation degree assessment in Ukraine. In particular, the results of the global land cover maps and land cover changes maps (spatial resolution - 300 m) analysis provided by the Secretariat of the Convention to Combat Desertification (CCI-LC) and the relevant regional products obtained by the SRI (spatial resolution - 300 m). Both product groups are taken with a 10-year time step (2000 and 2010 for global data and 1990, 2000, and 2010 for regional).
