Purpose of the work - development of methodological foundations and mechanisms which form the system of interaction between the public and private sectors to improve efficiency and optimize the social expenditure of the budget. Research methods - dialectical and empirical methods, methods of analysis and synthesis, classification, comparison, terminological analysis method, scientific abstraction and economic-mathematical methods. The scientific novelty of the work is to develop a theoretical and methodological basis of the state and the private sector interaction development in the social sphere, peculiarities of this interaction in the sphere of social protection of the population, its principles, motivation of participants, perspective directions. The results of the research and their novelty - practical recommendations on the formation and development of the state and the private sector interaction in the sphere of social protection as a tool for increasing efficiency, rationalizing, optimizing social expenditures of the budget were developed; proposals to improve the state financial provision of social protection of the population in modern socio-economic conditions in Ukraine also were developed. Practical significance consists in the possibility of using recommendations on improving the organization and financing of the social protection system of the population in modern socio-economic conditions, developed taking into account foreign experience.
