The purpose of the project is to study the biological diversity of the dominant microorganisms of deep-sea sediments and water of various geographical zones of the Black Sea, to determine their biotechnological potential and to establish the patterns of variability in conditions of chronic environmental pollution. Methods of research - methods of metagenome analysis of 16S rRNA, classical microbiological, modern molecular biological methods and bioinformatics. The biological diversity of microbiota of the Black Sea and estuaries has been determined by methods of metagenome analysis. The regularities of the composition of microorganisms, their potential in relation to the resistance to xenobiotics and antibiotics from the level of anthropogenic influence on the marine environment have been established. The samples of bottom sediments collected in the deep waters of the Caucasus, Crimea, Turkey from depths up to 2,000 m, in the northwestern part of the Black Sea from depths up to 200 m and the coastal zone of the sea are studied. Isolated strains of bacteria of the genus Bacillus, anammox bacteria, thion bacteria and other taxonomic groups of prokaryotes. A broad spectrum of biological properties of isolated strains of bacteria of the genus Bacillus, bacterial anammox, and thionic bacteria was studied. Molecular-biological methods for the spectra of fatty acids have established the degree of phylogenetic bonds of isolated strains of bacteria of the genus Bacillus. Their potential for developing biotechnological methods of environmental cleaning, waste utilization, ecosystem design, and obtaining new products has been determined.
