The main subject of the research is mechanisms of formation, physical nature, properties and manifestations of internal energy flows (IEF) in light beams, as well as the possibilities of their application for the description and experimental determination of spatial characteristics and physical properties of light beams. The purpose of the work is to create a general theory of IEF in light fields of different shapes and structures, to determine the role of the spatial and polarization heterogeneity of the beam in the IEF formation, to study the IEF evolution during transformations and propagation of light beams, and to develop, on this basis, the principles of control and diagnostics of light fields. The work is aimed at the development of principles and methodological basis for the use of IEF for description and characterization of transformations, propagation and physical effects in light fields. In this framework, a detailed analysis has been performed and a consistent physical picture of the IEF in light fields of different nature and origins has been created, the principles of their classification were developed, their characteristics and peculiarities of behavior were determined in conditions of transformations or evolution of light fields. The canonical decomposition of the IEF into the spin and orbital parts is substantiated, their physical characteristics and mechanical meaning are determined. On this basis, the physical manifestations of the IEF and the possibilities of their detection and measurement are investigated. The diffraction of circular vortex beams and the IEF manifestation in the evolution of the diffracted beam are considered. The obtained results will promote the development of a system of physical parameters for the description and characterization of light fields with arbitrary spatial and polarization inhomogeneity, and provide a basis for discovering new ways of their experimental research and applications.
