This approach allows, being distracted from nonessential details, using only the atomic properties of carbon and the peculiarities of the geometric structure of graphene without the use of particle parameters, to obtain its electronic characteristics. Based on the two-dimensional elastic continuum model and using an approach that goes beyond the quasigarmonic approximation, a theory is developed that describes the characteristic features of the thermal expansion of graphene. We obtained the negative value of the coefficient of thermal expansion of graphene at low temperatures and the change of its sign at T = 1000 K. It is shown that the bending vibrational mode plays a decisive role in the features of the thermal compression / expansion of graphene and that the contribution of this mode to the coefficient of thermal expansion does not depend on the size of the model, due to the "sound" nature of the long-wave dispersion of the flexural mod.
