Volkov, Доктор біологічних наук Registration Date 24-01-2018 Organization Yuri Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University popup.description2 The molecular and biochemical mechanisms of plant resistance to saline and heat stress have been revealed. It has been established that acute short-term salt stress leads to secondary oxidative stress and induces a protective cellular response that involves the synthesis of protectant metabolites (prolin), increase of antioxidant enzyme genes expression (Apx1, ApxS) and their enzymatic activity (dehydroascorbate reductase - DHAR, guaiacol peroxidase - POD). In the Arabidopsis mutants cat2, cat3, cat2cat3, vte1 and vte4, which have impaired components of antioxidant defense (reduced activity of catalase - CAT, reduced content of tocopherols), the protective response to stress is less pronounced. The relationship between reactive oxygen species (ROS), antioxidants (tocopherols, ascorbate) and sugars (sucrose, glucose) in regulation of the stress response to heat stress in plants has been elucidated. For the first time it has been shown that sucrose stabilizes the activity of thermosensitive antioxidant enzymes (ascorbate peroxidase - APX, POD) and enhances the transcription of the genes that encode them (Apx1, Apx2, ApxS, GolS1) under heat stress conditions. It has been demonstrated that the transcriptional activity of the thermally induced Apx2 promoter is reduced in the cat2, cat3, cat2cat3 lines, but increases under sucrose treatment.
