Their photocatalytic properties were determined in the processes of hydrogen evolution from aqueous solutions of electron-donor substrates of various nature (methanol, ethanol, formic, ascorbic and lactic acid) under the visible light. It has been shown for the first time that carbon nitride can be an effective catalyst for the Kneenagel condensation reaction between benzaldehyde and ethyl cyanoacetate to form ethylcyanocinamate, which is important for the generation of potential biologically active compounds and fine organic synthesis.
