The object of the study is the national economy and the social sphere of Ukraine, the fuel and energy complex of Ukraine. The purpose of the work is to forecast and clarify the needs for electricity, optimize the development of electricity, oil and gas complexes and coal industry in Ukraine for the perspective up to 2040, taking into account the economic crisis in the country, the consequences of the "hybrid" war, including loss of part of Ukraine, decrease its population and destruction of production potential in the east of the country, as well as Ukraine's international commitments on environmental protection and climate change. In the process of forecasting, models and methods that adequately take into account the optimization of the long-term development of the sectors of the energy complex of the country have been used to address the general economic and social constraints, in particular, on the possible volumes of investment and employment, energy efficiency, energy conservation and scientific and technological progress in the energy sector and other sectors. economics and in the social sphere. Research methods - systematic analysis of large systems, in particular, the national economy and social sphere, as well as energy as an integrated system, methods of long-term prediction of complex systems, taking into account the interconnections between their subsystems. The new, adapted well-known and applied most effective, precise and sustainable methods of optimizing the development of power systems, coal industry and oil and gas complex, which will operate in the future under the conditions of strict investment restrictions, emissions of harmful substances, the level of energy security and necessary social protection, are created in the work. Proceeding from the current state of the economy and social sphere of the country, macroeconomic indicators of its economic development, the general international situation, using the most effective methods and models, forecasts of optimal development of power industry, oil and gas complex and coal industry of Ukraine for the perspective up to 2040 are developed.
