The aim of investigations: the optimization of the military system of radiation safety based on modern radiological concepts, adapted to typical scenarios of radiation exposure in military practice. Methods and equipment: biophysical and technical modeling, physical dosimetry, linear accelerator Varian Clinac 600 C, Pu-Be neutron source, X-ray simulator Varian Acuty, gamma-therapeutic device ROCUS-AM, thermoluminescent detectors DGT-4, dosimeters UNIDOS (PTW), dosimeter-radiometer MKS-АТ1117М, tissue-equivalent phantom of human body, compound carbon-based materials of the radiation protection of military armored vehicles. Theoretical and practical results: nine main directions for information and analytic research, clinical studies and experimental investigations were identified as needed for solving the tasks on the modernization of the basics of the military system of radiation safety. Schemes of experimental testing were suggested for 5 radioprotectors in 5 different military scenarios of irradiation. The background is provided for the protocol of clinical study of possible immune and regulatory disorders in the personnel of radiation, chemical and biological protection troops, and of the schemes of their individualized drug correction depending on the direction of radiation dose vertical gradient. Novelty: for the first time a phantom-instrumental model was assembled for testing physical protection means at different energetic and angle parameters of irradiation, that allows measuring the doses to internal organs with the accuracy about 97 %. The thickness of the half-attenuation layer was determined for 6 samples of compound carbon-based materials of the radiation protection of military armored vehicles under irradiation by sparsely ionizing beams of the energies from 0.1 to 6 MeV and 4.5 MeV neutrons. The effectiveness of implementation: the promotion of the development of new means of physical protection for radiation emergencies; rising the accuracy of the estimate of the actual distribution of radiation load during technical trials of physical means of radiation protection, that allows to save up to 100000 UAH per one round of testing.
