The object of research - medicinal plants: Digitalis purpureae L., Hypericum perforatum. The aim of research - developing radiobiological technology of increasing the content of secondary metabolites in plants Research methods - the method of acute and chronic exposure of plants (seeds, cell cultures), the methods of plants cultivation, quantitative and qualitative methods for determination of secondary compounds in extracts from plant material, statistical methods. The possible range of hormesis doses for the Digitalis Purpureae and Hypericum perforatum plants was calculated using the ratio of lethal and stimulating doses for plants. The results were validated subsequently in laboratory and field conditions. Seeds of the studied medicinal plants were irradiated acute x-ray irradiation at doses of 5, 10, 20, 35 and 50 Gy. The resulting dose dependence show the stimulation of the growth of biomass for Digitalis Purpurea and Hypericum perforatum for doses 5-20 Gy with an expected maximum at 10 Gy. The methods of secondary metabolites extraction (flavonoids and phenolic compounds) from the medicinal plants under study (Digitalis Purpureae and Hypericum perforatum) as well as the quantitative and qualitative methods of determination the content of secondary metabolites in medicinal raw materials were selected and experimentally tested. Quantitative determination of flavonoids content in the water-ethanol extracts of medicinal raw materials of Hypericum perforatum was performed by spectrophotometry. The obtained dose dependences of rutin equivalent flavonoids content indicate about the stimulating effect to flavonoid synthesis of Hypericum perforatum plants by the acute X-ray irradiation of seeds in dose 10 Gy. Summarizing the obtained data of the first year of research on the influence of different doses of presowing irradiation Digitalis Purpureae and Hypericum perforatum seeds on biological productivity - increasing of biomass and products of secondary metabolism synthesis of study medicinal plants, it is proposed to use dose of X-ray or gamma-irradiation seeds on 10 Gy as stimulated.
