The purposes of the study are developing of methods for investigation and calculation of landfill gas generation, filtration and collection process parameters in the landfill body and improvement of landfill gas collection system. The main results of the study are the following: (a) the layouts of landfill gas collection and energy utilization systems and the main design parameters are analyzed; (b) the effect of optimal distance between extraction wells on their operational parameters are determined; (c) the optimized layouts of extraction wells location within the MSW landfill area are developed; (d) the technical and economic parameters of the optimized landfill gas collection and energy utilization systems are evaluated; (e) the recommendation concerning main design parameters of landfill gas collection and energy utilization systems are developed.
