The object of the research is a complex of oral narratives of the peasants of Southern Ukraine. The purpose of the work is to determine the directions of formation of historical and cultural images of social, political and socio-economic transformations in the consciousness of the southern Ukrainian peasantry in the steppes of Ukraine during the twentieth century. Methods of research - analysis and synthesis, heuristics, historical-comparative, historical-typological, retrospective, classification, external and internal criticism of sources, and the like. The representative complex of sources on the history of Southern Ukraine is analyzed and a representative array of oral history sources is updated. The role and place of oral history sources in the process of knowledge of socio-historical issues was redefined and directions of mnemonic flows and images of the population of the southern Ukrainian region regarding the crisis phenomena of the 20th century were determined. The results of the research were introduced into the educational process at the Department of Source Studies, Historiography and SID - with the improvement and updating of the course of lectures on disciplines "Special Historical Disciplines", "Ethnology of Ukraine", "Population of Southern Ukraine", "Theory and Practice of Oral History"; during the preparation of 2 master's theses, 2 qualification papers for bachelor's degree. According to the results of the Scientific research work, 8 scientific publications (1 scientific collection, 1 monograph, 3 archaeological publications, 3 articles) were prepared for publication.
