The object of investigation is the process of transferring a unit of physical quantity - a meter from the standard to the working instrumentі for determining large linear dimensions. The purpose of the work is to comply with the requirements of the current legislation (the Law of Ukraine "On Metrology and Metrological Activities") in the field of metrological control and supervision of instruments, reducing the cost of verification and improving the accuracy of verification. Method of research: a comparative analysis of available methods and means of verification of total stations and light meters was carried out. The methodological basis of scientific research is a complex approach to analyzing the measurement of large linear dimensions with the help of laser radiation. The development and substantiation of the proposed method were carried out using mathematical and physical modeling methods using the law of optical propagation of light. The main results of the research: the direction is justified, the need to develop a new method for checking total stations, A comprehensive analysis of the existing method of checking total stations and light meters is made, it is concluded that it is expedient to develop a new method.
