The aim of the study is theoretical and methodological principles (concept) of large-scale electronic atlas mapping of river-basin systems, parameters of the state and level of economic use of land and water resources of the RBS; indicators of nature use (anthropogenic loading on the RBS), parameters of geoecological state of the RBS; geoinformation mapping technologies of geoecological state of the RBS and its subsystems and components. Research methods - theoretical and methodological basis of the research are the fundamental work of leading national researchers in the field of thematic and atlas mapping of river-basin systems, conceptual basics of geoinformation mapping, geoecological analysis of diverse geosystems. In the course of the research, the following methods were used: field research of river systems and their basins, collection, generalization, mathematical-statistical and comparative-geographical analysis, grouping of information about the state of the RBS and factors affecting it, cartographic visualization of geospatial information, geoinformation and cartographic modeling, and others. The value of the results obtained is to substantiate the theoretical foundations (concept) of large-scale atlas mapping of the geoecological state of river-basin systems and the compilation of a real model of such an atlas, based on the model of river-basin system of Bystrytsia (Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, Ukrainian Carpathians). The proposed conceptual approaches to atlas mapping of river-basin systems and the model of geoecological atlas of the real river-basin system will serve as a basis for implementation of the concept of environmental management and nature conservation on a basin principle in accordance with the requirements of the Water Framework Directive of the European Union.
