In the work new principles of the creation of composite electrode materials based on tungsten monocarbide powder and elements of Ib (Cu, Ag), IVb (Ti, Zr, Hf) and Vb (V, Nb, Ta) subgroups of Periodic system of elements for the devices of alternative electrochemical energetics were developed. High-performance processes for application of nanostructured wear-resistant layers of the WC-based composites on electrode matrixes were proposed based on the developed principles. It has been established that obtained electrode materials had low overpotentials of electrode processes, high chemical and wear resistance, and distinguished by the stability of electrochemical properties. Optimal production procedures and compositions of WC based electrode materials which demonstrated highest catalytic activity in the electrode reactions, occurring in the devices of alternative electrochemical energetics, were determined.
