Subject of the research: contact zones in the geographical and temporal socio-cultural space of the Ukrainian community. Purpose: study of socio-cultural practices in border situations in their historical dynamics. Research methods: ethnographic (complex of field methods: (interviewing, observation, observation of the results of surveys, classification and systematization, etc.), historical-comparative, system analysis, content analysis, "case study" method are used. A chronological approach is used for consideration of the research material in the historical dynamics. Results and their novelty: the historical and socio-anthropological contexts of occurrence and functioning of the boundary zones in the sociocultural, geographical and temporal spaces have been studied; The phenomenon of boarder zone in the dimensions of historical time was discovered on the basis of the study of the everyday life culture in the transition periods of the XX - early XXI century; domestic practices of people living in conditions of the imaginary border of the suburban area were investigated; religious practices at the border of Eastern Poland and Western Ukraine were studied; The behavioral models manifested in everyday practices in extreme situations of "transitional periods" (on an example of everyday culture of Kiev in the transition from military conflict to peaceful existence)were studied; flexibility of suburban(for example, the city of Irpin) inhabitants' identity was described; the interaction of different religious and ethnic group identities in the Crimea was investigated; Two models of world perception in a modern city: Soviet paternalistic and European were described. New perspective directions of frontier research were developed: imaginary boundaries of the suburban zone, frontier in the category of historical time, ideological frontier, etc. For the first time in Ukraine, Interdisciplinary International Workshop for Young Scholars "Imaginary Borderlands: Interpretations of Cultures and Strategies of Coexistence " was held. The degree of implementation - the results of the Research them are contained in 31 publications, tested at 20 scientific conferences, as well as in students' classrooms and educational activities. In particular, the realizers of the theme took part in more than 30 public events focused on national-patriotic education and popularization of Ukrainian studies. The results of the Research Theme can be used in textbooks and manuals, as well as in the development of educational programs for educational courses in cultural studies, sociology, ethnology of the present, socio-cultural anthropology, and history of Ukraine in the humanity faculties of higher educational institutions. Also, the results of the first stage of this research may be useful for creating concepts for the future development of Kyiv suburbs and for urban planning. The significance of these work consist in obtaining new knowledge about the functioning of the Ukrainian boundary zones in socio-cultural, geographical and temporal spaces. Studying and understanding of the border zones in a broad sense will allow timely and reasonably respond to social challenges, and will be resulted in the sustainable and competitive development of the Ukrainian state. Assumptions about the development of the object of the research - the developed theme needs further elaboration and theoretical and methodological comprehension at the final stage of the research.
