The aim of the investigation is to enclose the views of the Ukrainians linguists the XIXth - the thirties of the XXth centuries on the comparative-historical method as well as the analysis of the practical implementation of their views. The project represents itself the complex original study of the acute problems of linguistic methodology and genetic linguistics. For the first time ever the attempt of the complex investigation of the all comparative-historical method components is undertaken, and the conception of the comparative-historical method development during the XIXth - the thirties of the XXth centuries is formulated. The raised in the investigation problems are to be solved with the help of the actualistic method, which is a general scientific method of the theortical level of the scientific cognition. Notably, it finds an application in historiography of the every science, including linguistic historiography. The scientific novelty and significance of scientific results of study are that the broad factual material is used for analysis of the comparatively historical method in Ukrainian linguistics of the XIXth - the thirties of the XXth centuries (with the separation of three diverse components ? ontological, operational and teleological): implementation of the principles of historicism, causality, systematization, general connection of phenomena, the interpretation of the comparatively historical research purpose, the implementation of such methods and procedures as genetic identification evidence, linguistic reconstruction, chronology and localization of linguistic phenomena and their systematically related units.
