Object of research: sugar sorghum varieties Subject of research: energy potential and yield of sugar sorghum varieties Research methods: laboratory, field, statistical Results obtained and novelty: For the first time in the central part of the Forest-steppe Ukraine a study was conducted to determine the impact of the terms of harvesting sugar sorghum on energy output from unit area depending on the methods of further processing of biomass. In accordance with the research program, a comparative assessment was made of the productivity of the studied varieties. The optimal sowing dates have been determined and the best terms for harvesting sugar sorghum are established. The 2017 study on the cultivation of sugar sorghum varieties aims at developing new and improving existing technologies for cultivating this culture and identifying its energy potential. Key words: sugar sorghum, varieties, sowing dates, harvest time, productivity, energy output.
