The scientific ideas about the structure of slag melts during welding and ESR were developed. Based on the approach to the molten slag as a heterogeneous system mechanism of control of properties of slag melts through the formation in a liquid slag melt infusible dispersed phases was proposed. The temperature and concentration conditions of formation of the complex compound MgO·Al2O3 with a melting point of 2135 ° C in molten slag system MgO-Al2O3-SiO2-CaF2 were established and the methods of its quantitative determination were developed. The basic relations between the MgO·Al2O3 content in the molten slags, their physico-chemical properties, metallurgical and technological properties of fluxes in welding and ESR were established. The ways of control of melting temperature range, viscosity, electrical conductivity and oxidation ability slag melts systems CaF2-Al2O3-MgO, CaF2-Al2O3-CaO, CaF2-Al2O3-MgO-TiO2, CaF2-Al2O3-MgO-CaO-TiO2, CaF2-CaO-Al2O3-SiO2, CaF2-CaO-SiO2-MgO based on the formation in melts infusible aluminates and silicates of magnesium and calcium were proposed. A new generation of fluxes for welding of HSLA steels and ESR in the short movable moulds steels and alloys for various purposes which contain lightly oxidizied elementswas created.
