Karazin popup.description2 The object of the study are the characteristics of the electromagnetic field, scattered by complex form bodies. The purpose of the work is to create new and improve the existing methods of numerical simulation of impulse wave scattering, in particular waves of the radar range, on objects of complex shape. Research Methods for the calculation of wave scattering on a complex shape object it is planned to use the SBR (Shooting and Bouncing Rays) method in con-junction with the methods of physical and geometrical optics for monochromatic and pulsed fields. Results: Existing methods for calculating diffraction of electromagnetic waves on objects of complex form are considered. Their advantages and disadvantages are shown, the necessity of developing new methods for calculating wave diffraction on objects of complex form is confirmed. A model of scattering of waves on an object of complex form is constructed. In this case, the surface of the object of a complex form is divided into small elements - facets. The scattered field of each facet is calculated separately, the interaction between different facets is not taken into account. To cal-culate the field scattered by each facet, an analogue of the method of physical optics adapted for application in the time domain should be used. The scattered field is cal-culated as an integral from the surface current, and the surface current is determined by the incident field. The contribution from the unlit portion of the surface, that is not lightened by the radar, to the scattering of the object is not taken into account. In the case where the surface of the scattering object is not perfectly metallic, the surface impedance of this surface may be taken into account. For a transparent surface of an object, the passage of a wave is taken into account through a layer of transparent ma-terial (transparent dielectrics, radio absorbing materials, etc.). In this case, the behav-ior of the wave on the surface of such a material is taken into account with the help of Fresnel formulas or calculated through the measured characteristics of the investi-gated material. For modeling of coatings (tents), which partially passed by the waves, and also have a diffuse component of scattering both backward and forward, it is proposed to add the possibility of modeling individual parts of the surface of the object, which are scattering not mirror, but diffusely.
