The subject of the research is the journalistic content of the modern media area of Ukraine. The scope of research is the semantics of the journalistic text in the context of trends in the media industry, its functional, legal, organizational and regulatory aspects. In the course of the research the complex of complementary methods was used: the analysis of scientific sources through which the study of the explored problem was carried out, the main tendencies of the content and areas of professional activity of journalists were revealed; the trainings of future specialists in foreign and domestic theories and practices were compared; interpretive-analytical, which foresaw the interpretation, comparison, and systematization of facts from scientific literature and their generalization; content analysis, bibliographic, descriptive, forecasting and problem-thematic ones. The most important aspects of the analysis of the nature of the journalistic text were: the linguistic approach, which allowed to highlight the main features of the text a) expressive, that is, coding the test with certain signs; b) structural - the existence of a system of relations between the elements of the text, which make up its structure; the semiotic approach has allowed to highlight the main functions of the text, which are peculiar to the journalistic one (the function of adequate knowledge transfer, that is, the property of being the data medium; the function of creating new content, the function of memory, that is, the ability to become a source of information in the context of reading it in different periods);the philosophical and cultural approach confirms the existence of single sign space of speech for the text broadcasting, emphasizing the existence of a single "cultural" basis for the author and the reader, for decoding the text; it also analyses the interaction of the text with the reality and time, since the texts have the property of telling recipients of another reality of past epochs; the literary approach helped to draw attention to the role of the author in the work and the artistic specificity of the text; the communicative approach revealed the necessity of considering the text not autonomously and not only as the phantom of the author's imagination, but in terms of communicative interaction the author - the text - the readership, emphasizing the role of the recipient in the appearance and functioning of the text. The scientific and practical result, for which the work was directed, is detailed through determination of the main historical stages of the formation of the journalistic theory, the logical-semantic basis of the creation of journalistic texts and the specifics of Ukrainian journalistic discourse, the most notable scientific works of national researchers on the theory of Ukrainian journalism, in particular, publicistics, its place and role in the theoretical and methodological fields of national journalism, the determination of source base and methodology of the research of functioning of journalistic communication. The state of the scientific development of the problem and the conceptional and categorical basis of the research, the place of journalism in the system of mass media, its links with science and artistic literature were studied. From the historical and chronological perspectives, it has been proved that Ukrainian journalism, as one that cater to the informational needs of the titular ethnic group, is a unique marker and a means of expressing national identity. The informational and communicational conditions of the emergence, the cultural and educational role, the historical specifics of the development, and the peculiarities of the functioning of the Ukrainian journalistic word, the key vectors of the evolution of the journalistic style, the dynamics of the development, the genetic features and the spheres of the functioning of journalistic communication in the Ukrainian media discourse have been comprehensively analysed. The cognitive possibilities of journalism and psychological foundations of its influence on a person are studied. We have studied functional changes in modern journalism (due to the increased interest of national and foreign researchers in the study of those functional media subsystems that have a special communicative and social significance in modern society), the modern discursive paradigm of changes in the media system, the orientation of periodicals. We have also compared their texts with tele- and audio texts, examined the stylistic features of journalistic texts, and systematically analysed the best samples of journalistic texts in television, radio, Internet and printed formats. The theoretical and practical significance of the obtained results is determined by the possibility of their application both in solving a number of academic, scientific and educational problems, including the filling of "blindspot" in the field of Ukrainian journalistic studies, and in state political practice - in developing the informational policy of Ukraine with taking into account European integrational aspirations. The concept of scientific exploration will contribute to the formation of modern approaches in the construction of media strategies of Ukraine with the aim of most rapid adaptation of domestic journalism to the realities of the European informational media area.
