The aim of the study: high precision measurements of the microwave transition frequencies for triplet Zn atoms in highly excited (Rydberg) states that are close to the ionization threshold; solution of the direct and inverse problems of spectroscopy. Methods of investigation: the method of field ionization with multistage laser-microwave excitation of neutral zinc atoms. The atomic-beam radio spectrometer was upgraded to study the absorption spectra of triplet Zn atoms in D, F, G Rydberg states in the frequency range 79 ? 285 GHz. Three methods of excitation of zinc atoms in triplet Rydberg states were proposed and implemented. The absorption spectra of the triplet Rydberg Zn atoms in the optical range were obtained. The calculations of the energies and frequencies of the resonant absorption transitions of triplet Zn atoms in D, F, G Rydberg states in the microwave wave range using laser spectroscopy data of other authors and the results of our studies obtained during the first stage of this work were carried out. The constants for the high-precision calculations of the quantum defect of triplet Zn atoms in the Rydberg states will be found after the completion of the planned frequency measurements in the microwave range.
