It was found that in the organic matter of alpine soils there is from 28 to 44% of water-soluble compounds - much more than in the zonal soils of the lowlands of Ukraine. Such a large quantity of labile substrates indicates the vulnerability of these soils to climate change. It was also found that the temperature increase of 10 ° C significantly, more than twice, increases the rate of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere from the rhizosphere soil. It may happen due to increased availability of the substrate and increased activity of microorganisms-destructors. The obtained gave enough evidence to offer Pogrebnyak grid as a basis for the future national system for assessing carbon reservoirs and fluxes. It will be an integral system that will significantly reduce heterogeneity and increase the statistical and practical significance of the obtained results. The purpose of this work was to access the applicability of the principles of Pogrebnyak grid to predict changes in carbon reservoirs and fluxes in the Carpathians.
