Signs of the hidden course of the epidemiological process of diphtheria are revealed. The results of the analysis of data on the coverage of prophylactic vaccinations against diphtheria and tetanus in different age groups of the population during recent years indicate the formation of a significant layer of persons not vaccinated against these infections or immunized with violations. As part of the Methodical Center for herd immunity monitoring, the level of immune protection against diphtheria and tetanus in Ukraine population in 2014 - 2016 is investigated. A tendency towards a decrease in anti-diphtheria and i antitetanus immune protection of children of preschool and junior school age was revealed. The algorithms for epidemiological and immunological monitoring of diphtheria and tetanus are developed. Proposals for immunization against diphtheria and tetanus of persons with violations of the vaccination calendar have been developed (project of recommendations). The technique of determining the antibiotic susceptibility of the diphtheria pathogen by the disc diffusion method is improved. A new, easy way to detect penicillin-tolerant corynebacterium diphtheria was developed. Measures have been taken to support the collection of strains of the causative agent of diphtheria and difteroids, research on the improvement of the method of their storage.
