The purpose of the work is to develop recommendations for the implementation of the defense planning system based on the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Method of research is the system analysis of the objects and processes. During the research work the analysis of the experience of the leading NATO countries on the application of the methods (types) of planning used in the defense planning systems; analysis of the current state of the defense planning system in the Armed Forces of Ukraine; description of processes and procedures of planning based on the capabilities in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine were conducted. On the theme of the work the scientific and practical seminar was held, the proposals were submitted to the Order of Defense Planning Organization in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The results obtained during the implementation of research work should be used in the practice of public and military administration and in the organization and implementation of educational process.
