The purpose of the work is to improve scientific and methodological approaches to the determination of natural resource rent and its place in the value chains. Methods of research: general and specific methods of scientific research, such as analysis, comparison, factor analysis, structural analysis, system approach, economic and mathematical methods. Elements of scientific novelty in the work are as follows: the development of theoretical and methodological provisions concerning the role and place of natural resource rent in the formation of value chains; definition of the essence and structure of development potential in the system of the enterprise competitiveness; determining the place of natural rent in the formation of value chains at the enterprise level; scientific and methodological approaches to revealing rent relations in the shadow economy sector; theoretical and methodical principles for estimating the rent income of enterprises that exploit nature and its distribution among the state, territorial community and economic entities have been developed. Scientific and practical results of research work can be used in the development of strategies for the development of enterprises that exploit nature in conjunction with other components of value chains. Proposals for the distribution of rental income can be applied in determining the revenue and expenditures of local budgets. The field of application of the basic provisions of the scientific research is extractive enterprises and territorial communities on whose territory they are located. Work has economic efficiency, which is to save costs that form the value chain. Social efficiency consists in determining the revenues and expenditures of local budgets as a result of the distribution and redistribution of natural resource rent and their orientation towards solving social problems. The significance of the work consists in the development of theoretical and methodological provisions for the estimation of rental income, their distribution and redistribution in the formation of value chains. The research is promising in solving problems related to the rational use of natural resources of the territory and the formation of a strategy for its development.
