The aim of the work is to develop methodological principles and organizational mechanisms of portfolio investment as a tool for financial sustainability of the Ukrainian economy. Research methods are: system-structural method, logical method, comparative analysis, forecasting method, graphical analysis. The result of the work is to improve the methodological provision of portfolio investment as a tool for financial sustainability of the Ukrainian economy. On the basis of the analysis, the organizational and methodological foundations of the functioning of state investment funds in Ukraine as institutional portfolio investors have been improved, the mechanism of formation of joint investment by mixed type has been substantiated; the scenarios of formation of sources of creation and replenishment of the fund from agreements on distribution of production have been modeled; directions of its use are justified; and formation of a portfolio of its assets, principles of functioning, a two-level model of its management on the basis of accountability and public control. The scientific-methodical approach for estimating investment potential of regions according to its separate dimensions (economic, ecological, social) is developed.
