As input data on soil moisture, readings from Echoprobe and Watermark sensors, located at soil moisture measurement stations within the Kherson region, are used. The results of application of trained neural networks for determination of soil moisture changes and identification of the soil drought phenomenon are presented. A comparison of the results of the proposed technique with the results obtained by known drought indices is carried out. Software that automates computations is created.
