Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Optimum ranges of arc surfacing under flux, protective gases and open arc are determined by powder wires, which ensure the production of high-quality welded metal with minimal penetration of the base metal. The technique and technology of wear-resistant surfacing of steel sheets thickness 3 mm with self-shielded flux-cored wire PP-AN192 with a diameter of 1.8 mm was developed. The technology and technique of two-layer surfacing of armored plates has been developed. High bullet resistance is observed in samples with a plastic sublayer material and a harder welded outer layer, with practically the same thickness of the weld metal. At ECHN in the current-carrying crystallizer the character of change of currents of the pallet, electrode and crystallizer is determined at a change of the value of electrode penetration into the slag bath for different diameters of the electrode, different depth of the slag bath. These parameters ensure a minimum and uniform penetration of the base metal. The developed technologies and materials of arc, plasma-powder and electroslag surfacing allowed to increase the productivity and reduce the energy intensity of different methods of surfacing.
