The isotopic composition of carbon of Ukrainian placer microdiamonds, composition and content of impurity-structural defects and composition and features of mineral and fluid inclusions in their crystals are characterized. On the basis of these results, the reconstruction of the diamond-forming environment (paragenesis), diamond-forming fluid composition (growth system) and РT-conditions of diamond growth have been performed.On the content of rare and rare-earth elements the specificity of the chemical composition of mantle minerals (pyrope, chromshpinelide, picroilmenite, and others) from the kimberlites and placers of the Ukrainian Shield were considered, and their parageneses were determined in the results of the study of solid phase inclusions. Taking into account the typomorphic features of studied mantle minerals, geological and genetic types of primary diamond sources are identified.
