Taking into account the qualities of monocular and binocular functions, there has been introduced a method and indications for optimal prism, spherical prism and sphero-cylindrical prism corrections in patients with dysbinocular amblyopia in case of concomitant strabismus. For the first time there have been obtained new scientific data on the influence of domestically produced modified Fresnel microprisms on the different visual acuity, the type of vision, the strabismus angle and contrast sensitivity in children experimentally in clinical conditions. These facts deepen existing knowledge about the pathogenetic mechanisms of strabismus development. The angle of strabismus was measured with the use of KK-42 prism compensators and the results were analyzed to plan the volume of surgical intervention in children. Based on the data obtained in the study, there has been made the algorithm for measuring the strabismus angle during surgical treatment of patients. Existing methods of conservative strabismus treatment have been improved. On the basis of the obtained results of the influence of modified Fresnel microprisms on the visual indicators there also have been designed the sunglasses of combined action with ametropia correction and elimination of the strabismus angle. The suggested method allows many patients to avoid surgical interventions, whereas previously the same eye was often reoperated several times. The method makes it possible to improve treatment outcomes by 40-50% at average and significantly shorten the length of the medical rehabilitation. Moreover, the suggested method may significantly simplify and shorten the duration of surgical interventions and patients would be provided outpatient treatment.
