The purpose of the work is to improve the technology of manufacturing products out of zirconium dioxide, stabilized ~ 10 % Y2O3. Methods of researches are chemical, petrographical, XRD, physical-mechanical ones. We have studied the effect of micronized baddeleyite powder of the new brand ПБ-ХOM, introduced instead of vibromilled powder ПБ-0, on the apparent density of as-spun and dried raw samples of fused ZrO2, stabilized ~ 10 % Y2O3, as well as on the basic properties of these samples after firing at 1580 °C. The optimum amount of micronized baddeleyite powder of the new brand has been established, which provides obtaining refractories from fused ZrO2, stabilized ~ 10 % Y2O3 by the method of semi-dry pressing, with high indexes of properties, which do not concede to similar characteristics of samples containing vibromilled baddeleyite powder ПБ-0. The effects of mixture moisture have been studied, as well as of molding pressure (50, 75, 100 H/mm2) on the apparent density of as-spun and dried samples of optimal composition and on the basic properties of these samples, burned out at 1580 °C. The optimal humidity, compression pressure have been established, which ensure obtaining samples from ZrO2 stabilized ~ 10 % Y2O3 with less than 2-3 % (absolute) open porosity and a greater than 11 % (relative) compression strength limit compared to these characteristics of refractories of the same composition that were produced before. As a result of the performed researches, the technology of manufacturing the semi-dry pressing of refractory products made from ZrO2, stabilized ~ 10 % Y2O3 has been improved. In PJSC "THE URIR NAMED AFTER A. S. BEREZHNOY" pilot batches have been produced: heat-insulating powder with grains of 5-2 mm from stabilized ZrО2 with indexes of properties that meet the requirements of the Buyer; refractory products made of ZrO2 stabilized Y2O3 in the form of a lid of 6 typical sizes and a cylinder of 5 typical sizes with indexes of properties that meet the requirements of the technical specifications, which are intended for installations for the monocrystals growth; refractory products in the form of a crucible of 2 typical sizes with characteristics of properties that meet the requirements of the Buyer, which are intended for induction melting of platinum and metals of the platinum group. These refractory products are delivered to consumers on the domestic and foreign markets. The work shall be continued in the direction of mastering the advanced technology of the manufacture of products from ZrO2, stabilized ~ 10 % Y2O3, and further improvement of the technology of manufacture of zirconium dioxide refractories, expansion of volumes of their production and application.
